More than choosing a boiler model
A replacement boiler should suit the property as well as the available installation space. The number of hot-water outlets, how they are used, the existing controls and the condition of the heating system can all influence the recommendation.
If your current boiler keeps breaking down, struggles with demand or is becoming difficult to repair, tell us what has changed. We can discuss whether replacement is the next sensible step and what the proposed work would involve.
Combi, system or regular boiler?
A combi boiler heats domestic hot water on demand without a separate cylinder. System and regular boiler arrangements work with stored hot water and different existing system components. Changing between types can involve more work than replacing a similar appliance.
The best option depends on your current setup and needs. In particular, a larger combi boiler cannot compensate for an inadequate incoming mains supply. Water pressure and flow need consideration alongside boiler hot-water output.
Keeping the current position
The flue, gas supply, condensate route, electrical connections and cupboard access still need checking when the new boiler goes in the same place.
Changing the setup
Moving the boiler or changing the system type can affect pipework, controls and other equipment. Tell us about extensions, extra bathrooms or planned alterations.
Vaillant 830 to 840: a real replacement
TNG Services replaced a Vaillant ecoTEC plus 830 combi with an ecoTEC plus 840 to increase domestic hot-water capacity. The case explains the existing cupboard position and why water supply matters when considering a higher-output appliance.

Make the scope clear before work begins
A straightforward replacement and a system conversion have different requirements. The quote needs to account for the boiler, installation position, connections, controls and any additional work identified during the assessment.
Ask what is included in the proposed installation, which additional work is recommended and what the handover will cover. Product guarantees depend on the selected appliance and its conditions; we can discuss those for the model being quoted.
Help us understand your current system
Send the boiler make and model, a photograph of the appliance and surrounding pipework, and a brief description of any problems. If you have a hot-water cylinder or separate tanks, mention those too.
Tell us about the number of bathrooms, whether hot water is used at several outlets at once and any planned building work. These details make the initial discussion more useful and help identify what should be checked on a visit.
Your questions before booking
Do I need to choose a boiler before contacting you?
No. Describe your existing system and what you need from heating and hot water. We can discuss suitable options before you commit to a particular model.
Can you replace a boiler in an existing cupboard?
Often, but the dimensions, access, flue and connections must be suitable for the replacement appliance. Photographs are helpful for the first discussion.
Should a faulty boiler always be replaced?
Not necessarily. A repair may be appropriate depending on the fault, age, condition and availability of parts. Tell us what is happening so we can discuss the next step.
How long will installation take?
The timing depends on the agreed scope. A like-for-like replacement differs from a move or conversion, so we confirm the expected schedule for your job.
