A customer in Stevenage contacted TNG Services after discovering a water leak within their Quooker system. The equipment had been installed in a very restricted space beneath a Belfast sink, with untidy pipework making the components extremely difficult to inspect, access and maintain.
A leaking Quooker system with extremely limited access
Finding and repairing a leak is more difficult when the affected components cannot be reached safely. In this installation, the Quooker equipment, water-treatment housing, waste pipework, flexible hoses and electrical connections were all competing for space beneath the Belfast sink.
The arrangement made it difficult to trace the leak and left little room to isolate or service individual components. Water was already visible on the base of the cupboard, so the system needed careful investigation rather than simply tightening the first accessible connection.
Access is part of a good installation. Even when equipment fits inside a cupboard, filters, valves and connections should remain reasonably accessible for inspection, cartridge replacement, servicing and future repairs.
Creating access to identify and rectify the leak
The components were carefully disconnected and moved as required to expose the concealed pipework and connections behind the original installation. This created enough working space to inspect the system properly and rectify the water leak.
The photograph taken during the work shows how much of the original plumbing was hidden behind the equipment. Removing the obstruction also allowed the pipe runs and component positions to be reconsidered before reassembly.
Repairing the system and reorganising the components
Once the leak had been rectified, the Quooker components and associated pipework were reorganised rather than returned to the same congested arrangement. The aim was to make better use of the limited cupboard space while leaving clearer access to the principal serviceable components.
Carefully move obstructing components and expose the concealed pipework.
Inspect the accessible connections and complete the necessary repair.
Arrange the system to improve access for future maintenance and servicing.

The difference is not purely cosmetic. The revised arrangement provides a clearer view of the main components and connections, reducing the amount of equipment and loose pipework obstructing the front of the cupboard.

Quooker systems contain components that may require inspection, filter attention or servicing during their working life. If these parts are buried behind tangled hoses and waste pipework, even routine maintenance can become unnecessarily difficult.
