A customer on Woodland Way, Stevenage contacted TNG Services Ltd to service their seven-year-old Quooker 3-in-1 boiling water tap. The boiling water pressure and flow were extremely poor, and the system needed a thorough investigation.

This was more than a minor performance issue. The Quooker was struggling badly — almost “crying out for help”. During the service, the extent of the internal limescale build-up became clear.

We removed 1.809 kg of limescale from the 3-litre tank. The quantity of material removed showed just how extensive the internal build-up had become.

Descaling alone did not resolve the fault

After cleaning and descaling, the Quooker still did not operate correctly. Further investigation revealed a blocked and malfunctioning pressure reducing valve following prolonged internal limescale blockage.

The valve also required replacement to restore correct operation. This service therefore involved both removing the accumulated limescale and addressing the additional valve fault.
