What causes an F75 fault on a Glow-worm boiler?

An F75 fault indicates that the boiler has not detected the expected water pressure change when the heating pump starts.

Possible causes include:

  • A faulty water pressure sensor.
  • Low heating system water pressure.
  • Air trapped in the boiler or heating system.
  • A faulty internal heating pump.
  • A wiring fault affecting the pump or pressure sensor.

A fault code guides the investigation. It does not automatically mean that the pump or sensor needs replacing. Identifying the actual cause is essential before carrying out repairs.

Faulty water pressure sensor identified

During our investigation of this Glow-worm Energy 30C in Walkern, we found that the water pressure sensor was faulty.

The sensor monitors water pressure inside the boiler. A faulty sensor can prevent the boiler from receiving the information it needs to operate, resulting in a fault and shutdown.

In this case, replacing the failed sensor was the repair required.

Boiler drained and pressure sensor replaced

We drained the boiler before removing the faulty water pressure sensor and installing its replacement.

Following the sensor replacement, the boiler was returned to working order, resolving the reported F75 breakdown.

This targeted repair restored the customer’s existing boiler without the need for boiler replacement.

01Investigate the fault

Establish the cause of the F75 shutdown and identify the failed pressure sensor.

02Replace the sensor

Drain the boiler, remove the faulty sensor and install its replacement.

03Restore operation

Return the existing boiler to working order and recommend a follow-up service.

Boiler service recommended

Following the investigation and repair, we advised the customer to arrange a boiler service.

A breakdown repair addresses the specific fault preventing operation. A service provides an opportunity for a broader inspection and maintenance of the appliance, helping identify any further work required.

The boiler service was recommended as a follow-up to this emergency repair.
